Pete Doherty has checked into rehab, just hours before he was scheduled to appear in court to be sentenced for possession of class A drugs.

The Babyshambles star was due in front of a judge at West London Magistrate's Court today, following his arrest in May.

However, the hearing has apparently been delayed for a third time, after the former Libertine decided to seek treatment for his addictions once again.

Doherty apparently went into rehab voluntarily, because he is "trying his best" to stop taking drugs, according to his lawyer Sean Curran.

"I think he's quite serious. He's asked to go in and he's still there so he's trying", Curran told a UK tabloid.

He is next due in court on October 2, the day after Babyshambles release their new album, "Shotter's Nation".
