Courtney Love will takeover BBC radio for a day this Christmas.

The former Hole star and widow of Kurt Cobain is the latest rock star to be confirmed as a "Selector" on 6 Music.

She joins Oasis and Moby, who will also run the station during December, dictating the playlist, choosing programming and apparently discussing her relationship with Cobain.

Amongst the music she is expected to play are The Beatles, Elvis Presley, New Order, REM and The Bangles and "a lot of old '60s stuff".

She explained: "I'm doing a teaching exercise. I want people to learn things. I've made a list, checked it twice, and I found myself living in the past."

Courtney is a "Selector" on 6 Music on December 11.
