Legendary British rock & roll band THE GODFATHERS celebrate 25 years since their formation with their first full UK tour for more than 15 years.
The sharp-suited rockers, led by brothers Peter and Chris Coyne, scored several hits since forming in 1985: including classic tunes ‘Birth School Work Death’, ‘Love Is Dead’, ‘I Want Everything’ and ‘Cause I Said So’.
They will celebrate their landmark 25th anniversary with a very special birthday show at London’s historic 100 Club on June 17th, an extensive UK tour and several European concerts and festivals.
The London show will be the first since February’s blistering St Valentine’s Day Massacre set at ULU and falls on the exact anniversary of the band’s first ever gig at London’s Embassy Club on June 17 1985. The 100 Club gig replaces the recently announced Haiti benefit for the same venue, which has now been cancelled.

The Godfathers also visit Spain & the Basque region with concerts at Kafe Antzokia, Bilbao, on Wednesday March 31, Sala Paraninfo in the Canary Islands on Thursday, April 1 and Freakland Festival in Ponferrada on Saturday, April 3, as well as a trio of Dutch gigs at De Nieuwe, Heerlen on Friday, April 23, Nirwana, Lierop on Saturday, April 24, and Bibelot, Dordrecht on Sunday, April 25. The Godfathers will also be performing at the Orange Blossom Special Festival in Beverungen, Germany, on Sunday, May 23.
The Godfathers’ electrifying brand of primal rock & roll foreshadowed the Brit rock resurgence of the 1990s and has become increasingly influential in recent years with multi-million selling American acts Local H and Spoon releasing cover versions of Godfathers’ classics ‘Birth School Work Death’ and ‘This Damn Nation’. The Godfathers debuted 2 new songs (‘Back Into The Future’ and ‘I Can’t Sleep Tonight’) at their Saint Valentine’s Day Massacre concert at ULU, London last month and are currently writing material for a new Godfathers’ album due for release sometime in 2010.
