Rihanna’s new “forgiveness” tattoo may be spelt wrong.

The Barbados-born singer has had a Sanskrit passage inked above her right hip - reading “forgiveness, honesty, suppression and control” - but Sanskrit expert Mark Fielden claims it is “incorrectly written”.

The tattoo – taken from the Hindu holy text of Gita - was designed by New York artist BangBang, who also inked Rihanna’s controversial gun design under her right armpit.

Meanwhile, the ‘Umbrella’ singer’s on/off boyfriend Chris Brown - who allegedly attacked Rihanna in February - was spotted visiting a tattoo parlour in California over the weekend.

The ‘Run It’ singer was accompanied by rumoured new love interest, Girlicious singer Natalie Mejia.

Natalie has refused to deny reports she is dating Chris, saying: “It’s true we did visit a tattoo parlour together but I can’t say if we got anything done because that is personal.

“Things are going well between us but I really do not want to comment much more than that right now.

“He has treated me like a gentleman at all times.”

Meanwhile, a representative for 19-year-old Chris confirmed he is friends with Natalie but denied they are pursuing a romantic relationship.

The spokesperson said: “Chris was in a Hollywood tattoo parlour with a woman named Dean, who was getting a tattoo. Chris did not get a tattoo. Natalie Mejia was there with Dean.

“Reports that Natalie Mejia is Chris's new girlfriend are false."

Chris will appear in court on April 29 to face charges of felony assault and making criminal threats in connection the alleged attack on Rihanna. He has entered a plea of not guilty.
