Jools Holland celebrates Ronnie Scott's 50th

Legendary jazz club Ronnie Scott's has been celebrating its 50th anniversary with a number of festivities earlier this year including a series of jazz films at the BFI in May and a successful British Jazz Festival in August.

As Ronnie Scott's reaches its half-century on 30th October, they are delighted to announce a sterling line-up of top names set to perform throughout October.

Kicking off the anniversary month concerts on 1st October will be renowned musician Jools Holland and his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra featuring Gilson Lavis, special guest star Dave Edmunds and guest vocalists Ruby Turner and Louise Marshall

Adding to the line-up and making a welcome return to the club after many years is world famous violinist, Nigel Kennedy, who continues the celebrations on 2nd, 3rd & 4th October.

Jazz vocalist and lyricist Jon Hendricks will wow guests with his sweet sounds on 8th, 9th and 10th while British rhythm and blues and Jazz singer and keyboard player Georgie Fame performs on 13th October.

Jamaican guitar legend and composer Ernest Ranglin will revisit his days as Ronnie Scott's resident guitarist in the 60's. The ska music pioneer will headline on 15th with Nu Troop and on the 16th October with Jazz Jamaica. Jazz icon and Grammy Award winner Pharaoh Sanders will take to the stage on the 21st and 23rd October.

For guests who enjoy contemporary Jazz; the energetic trio The Bad Plus, consisting of pianist Ethan Iverson, bassist Reid Anderson, and drummer Dave King, will perform on 19th and 20th October.

World-class drummer Steve Gadd will appear in a special performance on 26th October with organist Joey De Francesco, guitarist Paul Bollenbeck and saxophonist Ronnie Cuber.

Tony Award winning singer Barbara Cook brings to the audience melodies of Broadway at the end of the moment.

Other artists taking part in the celebrations include Salena Jones, Madeline Bell, Ian Shaw, Elaine Delmar, Carleen Anderson and Jack Bruce.
