Gilles Peterson to appear at Ronnie Scott's

Making his debut appearance at Ronnie Scott's Club jazz club in association with Time Out is legendary DJ, broadcaster, record producer, label owner, and all-round music ambassador Gilles Peterson. ''From 17th-19th September, Gilles will present some of his favourite artists, each of whom has a distinct connection to the world and sounds of jazz, whilst occupying their own particular niche outside it.

Performances on September 17th will come from Nostalgia 77 featuring special guests Keith Tippett & Julie Tippett,'supported by young trumpeter Matt Hansall. This exclusive performance is a rare chance to catch the Tippetts in a contemporary setting.

September 18th brings hip-hop giants Roots Manuva to the Club with special guest Tony Allen, supported by Mercury Prize winner Speech Debelle, 2009 Mercury Prize nominee.' Norwegian sonic experimentalist Bugge Wesseltoft and DJ and producer Henrik Schwarz supported by electronic crew Mount Kimbie play on September 19th.

As well as these artists cooking up a storm on the legendary Ronnie Scott's stage, renowned DJ's will play in Ronnie Scott's Bar.' BPM and Actress play a set each on Saturday 19th September, and making a very special appearance will be Gilles Peterson himself, when he plays a DJ set on Thursday 17th September.

A big fan of the club and a regular during his formative years, Gilles Peterson's 2002 Impressed compilation featured a host of rare British jazz from the 50's and 60's, and many of the artists featured were no strangers to Ronnie's stage.' For his residency in September, Gilles has chosen each artist personally and will introduce all of them over the 3 nights.
