Beyonce's parents file for divorce

Beyonce's mother has filed for divorce from her father after almost 30 years of marriage.

Court documents show that Tina Knowles started legal proceedings against Mathew Knowles, her husband of 29 years, last month in Houston, Texas.

In a statement Tina said: 'The decision to end our marriage is an amicable one. We remain friends, parents, and business partners. If anyone is expecting an ugly messy fight, they will be sadly disappointed. We ask for your respect of our privacy as we handle this matter.'

Both of Beyonce's parents played key roles in developing their daughter's career. Tina is a stylist and a principal at the House of Dereon, the fashion line she launched with Beyonce in 2004.

She also served as a costume designer for Destiny's Child's, the girl group Beyonce used to sing with.

Matthew managed Destiny's Child, who were formerly know as Girl's Tyme, and is a founder of Music World Entertainment.
