Bruce "The Boss" Springsteen has voiced his support for US Presidential hopeful Barack Obama.

In a letter on his website, he says, "Like most of you, I've been following the campaign and I have now seen and heard enough to know where I stand. Senator Obama, in my view, is head and shoulders above the rest."

He says of Obama's recent comment about small town Americans (where, to paraphrase, he said he understood the hick views that small-town America is so famous for) that it has been twisted out of context to "distract us from discussing the real issues: war and peace, the fight for economic and racial justice, reaffirming our Constitution, and the protection and enhancement of our environment."

He signs off saying "Over here on E Street, we're proud to support Obama for President."
