Ricky Wilson's favourite band was Oasis when he was a teenager.

The Kaiser Chiefs singer idolised Noel and Liam Gallagher when he was growing up, and always wanted to be as successful as the rock 'n' roll siblings.

He said: "I used to see Oasis on 'Top of the Pops' and my mum and dad would be there going, 'We don't understand it.' And I'd say, 'You don't get me mum, you don't get me dad. I love this s**t.' They were fantastic."

Although he was a huge admirer of Oasis, Ricky, 30, recently slammed the band, claiming his group had now replaced them as the most pop[ular act in Britain.

He said: "Oasis have disappeared up their own a***s. They think they are Led Zeppelin - they're not. Music has moved on and I think we are the band that most music fans would see as their successor."

Noel hit back, saying: "The Monkees haven't split up, they're going under the name of the Kaiser Chiefs."
