THE KOOKS bassist MAX RAFFERTY has quit the band after suffering a near breakdown on tour earlier this year (06).

Bassist Rafferty was forced to leave the successful rock group because he couldn't cope with the constant touring.

According to the band’s statement: “Max Rafferty has parted company with The Kooks - the band will be continuing with the forthcoming shows. Dan Logan, bassist with local Brighton band Cat The Dog, will be filling in for the short-term.”

The Kooks release second album 'Konk' on April 14.
