Katy Perry fights for name rights

KATY PERRY is trying to stop a fashion designer from using her name.

The I Kissed A Girl star doesn't want Australian Katie Perry using her name for her fashion lines, even though it is spelled slightly different and it's the designer's birth name.

The singer, real name Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson, sent a cease-and-desist order from her bosses at label EMI to the designer, who recently opened an outlet in Sydney, Australia.

They said the names are too "similar", and that Katy Perry's brand name must be protected.

The designer was born Katie Jane Perry, but occasionally uses the name Katie Howell.
