The Foo Fighters are seeking an unknown musician to join them on-stage at the Grammy Awards next month.

Dave Grohl and co are set to perform at the 50th annual music ceremony in Los Angeles and are to give one fan a chance to join them.

The band have invited unsigned instrumentalists to enter the My Grammy Moment contest, and are seeking string, woodwind and brass players.

Musicians are being invited to submit up to 60 seconds of them performing the Foos' track "The Pretender" before the January 20 deadline.

Grammy-appointed judges will then draw-up a shortlist of 45 quarter finalists, before the public are invited to choose three winners.

They will then perform with the band and an orchestra, with the winner then appearing at the glittering ceremony on February 10.

Last year's inaugural My Grammy Moment saw unknown singer Robyn Troup sing with Justin Timberlake during the show.
