Which unsigned band will play at the Benicássim festival 09?

The live final of the ultimate unsigned competition is revealed!!

First there were 1,700...then 40...now there are 5.

After an avalanche of over 100,000 votes from music fans across the country, the final 5 bands for the Supajam Fast Track to FIB Heineken Competition have been announced.

All that separates the 5 hopefuls from the gig of a lifetime in front of a capacity Benicássim crowd next month, is one definitive live show down. Judged by a panel of music industry gurus including representatives of Supajam, Radio 1 Interactive and anchored by legendary promoter, Vince Power, the live final will take place at the Pigalle Club in Piccadilly next Tuesday (23rd June).

And the nominees are.....

Paris Riots – This post rock trio mix the epic post sounds of Sigur Ros and This Will Destroy You, with the more frantic and fast paced elements of bands such as 65daysofstatic. Consisting of Brothers Sam and David Butler alongside Brett Wright, their live show is guaranteed to get the blood pumping. www.myspace.com/theparisriotsmusic

Lost Knives – Described as The Strokes meets Guillermo Del Toro, the band drummed up a media circus after Radio 6’s Steve Lamaq named them his ‘Unsigned Band Of The Week’ and NME awarded them their seal of approval. Fronted by Steven McInerney and George Agan, with Will Clutton breaking out the bass lines and Joe Craig pinning down the drum beats, they are a band to keep your eyes and ears on. www.myspace.com/lostknivesband

Suds and Soda - Named after their favourite song by Deus, this London based duo create their own blend of dirty electroclash with vibrant melodies and box fresh rhythms. Taking their influences from the likes of Miss Kittin and the Hacker, Peaches and Monty Python their dramatic live show is one not to be missed. With songs like 'Spread Your Legs For America', a tongue and cheek attack on American politics, and their debut single 'Style Over Substance', they are not afraid to offend.... expect the unexpected! www.myspace.com/sudsandsodamusic

Polly Mackey and the Pleasure Principle - 17 year old prodigy Polly Mackey and her band the Pleasure Principle are becoming something of a fixture on the festival scene. After a blistering 9 performance debut at SXSW in Texas in March, Polly has since earned rave reviews at The Great Escape and Liverpool Sound City festivals. Recently chosen to headline July's Red Festival in Liverpool, Polly is being tipped by many industry insiders as one of 2009's most promising emerging artists.

The Doups - Hailing all the way from Portugal, The Doups are an up and coming indie band who have promised to rock the Pigalle Club crowd. Planning nothing short of world domination they claim to make ‘the 74 revolution, the bond with UK trade relations, the purchase of Ronaldo and the spread of Mateus Rose all look like nothing more than little Tupperware parties of the past”
