Following successful music productions like “Golden Oldies” (2006), “The Legends of Music” (2007) and more recently, “Welcome to Hollywood”, Spiteri Lucas Entertainment (SLE) and the Malta Council for Culture and the Arts, on the occasion of the Malta Arts Festival 2008, have teamed up together to produce yet another spectacular music production not to be missed by one and all. On Friday 11th and Sunday 13th of July the “open-air” space of the former Old Opera House Theatre (Teatru Rjal) in Valletta will be the venue for the spectacular music show “A Tribute to the Stars”.
A Tribute to the Stars is a live, animated and entertaining tribute show featuring hits by some of the greatest pop stars of all time. It promises to be one of the most spectacular shows during this summer’s Malta Arts Festival that will surely brings the crowd to its feet.

“A Tribute to the Stars” features a varied repertoire of popular tunes chosen from over a sixty year span of Pop History and made popular throughout the years by a host of international stars. From the big-band sound of Glenn Miller and crooning myths such as Dean Martin, Nat King Cole and his daughter Nathalie, Andy Williams, Frank Valli, Elvis Presley, Barry Manilow, The Ronettes, Paul Anka, Shirley Bassey, The Beatles, Elton John, Dusty Springfield as well as Motown Legends Aretha Franklin, Roberta Flack, Stevie Wonder and Dionne Warwick together with the soulful voices of Wilson Pickett, Sam and Dave.

Hit numbers such as “In the Mood”, “Put Your Head on my Shoulder”, “Diamonds are forever”, “Save the last dance for me”, “Sir Duke”, “Killing me Softly”, “Son of a Preacher”, “Be my Baby”, “You don’t have to say you love me”, “In the Midnight Hour”, “Mustang Sally”. “Respect”, Karma Chameleon”, “It’s my Life”, “Always”, Let me Entertain You”, “Angels”, “Vivo Per Lei” and the legendary “Bohemian Rhapsody”.
Participating artists are Ludwig Galea, crooner Ivan Spiteri Lucas, Debbie Scerri, Glen Vella, Priscilla, Triccas, Nadine Axisa, Jason Scerri, Sandro Cassar, Adrienne, Julia Grima and Brooke Borg.

All artists will be accompanied by a live seven piece band under the direction of popular musical director Mark Spiteri Lucas who is also responsible for all musical arrangements to be performed throughout the show. Celaine Buhagiar together with her Dancel Dance Troupe is responsible for choreography.
