JOHN MCKEOWN
¡¥Things Worth Fighting For¡¦

Album Released: 28th September 2009

Showcase at the Pigalle Club, Piccadilly 10th September

There is nothing ¡¥average¡¦ about singer/songwriter, John McKeown, nor about his debut album ¡§Things Worth Fighting For¡¨, released on Beatroute Records 28th September 2009.

This enigmatic musician has a diversity of real life experiences, careers and hardships behind him that he brings to his music, which resonate with emotion, realism and hope, and give the album a genuine cross-generation appeal.

Having received his first guitar as a child, John¡¦s musical ventures started in earnest aged 12, when he began song writing and formed his first band. Despite experiencing acclaim for the quality of his writing John became disillusioned with the idea of music as a career.

But for an artist with John¡¦s passion and innovation, the lure of writing and making music was unlikely to leave him for good, and in 2007 he co-founded and fronted the band ¡§Hero¡¨. Before they had even recruited a drummer, the band had been booked to support The Stereophonics on a 4-week European tour, which gained the band a respect and admiration for their songwriting and live performance across Europe.

The band had an atypically un-acrimonious split in 2008 and John assembled an extremely talented team of musicians to record his debut solo album. Produced by ex-Steely Dan guitarist, Elliott Randall, the album features arguably some of the countries finest session musicians, including:-

ƒ{ Ralph Salmins on drums (previously played with Madonna)
ƒ{ Adam Phillips on guitar (previously played with Richard Ashcroft)
ƒ{ Arnulf Linder on bass (previously played with KT Tunstall)
ƒ{ Jenn Potter (previously with The Hoosiers)
ƒ{ Hugh Wilkinson on percussion
ƒ{ Elliott Randall also makes an appearance on electric guitar.
